Gigi Hadid Stuns in Topshop Ads

Now, I may be biased due to my newfound obsession with her street style, but Gigi Hadid for Topshop is one of the most visually appealing fall campaigns I have seen. Her knack for casual chic has made her a street style star seemingly overnight, while these ads focus on a more grungy yet put together vibe. Many photos have been released but these are my favourites (see if you can guess which one is my phone lock screen!). I plan to draw inspiration for my fall wardrobe and pictures from this campaign. Well done Topshop, you’ve taken the fashion world by storm causing quite the ruckus with these!

Here we see the continuation of the high-waisted skinny jean for fall, maintaining similar silhouettes with crop tops. This is great news for all us fashionistas on a budget as we will be able to continue to get more wear out of this season’s crop (pun intended). These basic separates paired with a staple motorcycle leather jacket makes this look very attainable and very easy to pull together with pieces you already own.

This is by far my favourite look of the whole editorial. You don’t see Gigi in a look like this often, but I think it looks incredible. Again, you can pull more of your summery pieces into fall (bright sweaters, cutout heels) with a few simple tweaks, making this a fabulous way to amp up your wardrobe for a lot less. I am also a huge fan of the military anorak style jacket, another top item on my list for fall (although it pretty much goes from summer to snow here in Canada).

Finally, another trend I am ecstatic is sticking around: over the knee boots/socks! This look is updated with the velvet/corduroy type jumper. Paired with a white long sleeve tee, this look draws from a more polished, refined, schoolgirl trend. The button detailing pairs extremely well and I hope I can get my hands on it!

Tuesday Blues OOTD

It’s easy to get caught up in the same routine. Finding your uniform for each aspect of your life is incredibly important. For me, you can never go wrong with skinny jeans and a button-down (as you can tell, super original). This pair contrasts particularly well, from the edgy vibe of the dark moto skinnies and the fresh, clean blue linen shirt. This is also a good way to almost dip your feet into the denim on denim trend without taking the plunge with a full Canadian tuxedo. My linen shirt can easily be switched for a chambray shirt to be more on trend.

This picture includes some more of my favourites right now as well:

Button Down Shirt: Forever 21, Jeans: J Brand, Bralette: Aritzia (Talula Brand), Necklace: J. Crew, Sunglasses: Tommy Hilfiger, Perfume: Elizabeth and James Nirvana White

Classy Crop

Crop tops are such a fun part of summer, yet I find myself sometimes shying away from wearing them in public. Perhaps it is the lack of coverage, but I often find myself tugging them down and eliminating any gaps. I do, however, think they can be done in a nicer way (substituting one sliver of skin for another) that can make any body shape comfortable. You will also notice in this outfit my tried n’ true favourite sandals of all time. They are the most comfortable and durable footwear I own, and they were purchased on a whim at a Walmart a couple years ago. I love the surprise on peoples faces after they compliment them and ask.

And yes, this is the finished result of that Ashley Benson post of mine yesterday, unfortunately the flyaways did not cooperate as well… Hope everyone is having a great Monday!!

Sunday Spark: Ashley Benson’s Pretty Summer Hair & Makeup

Its always nice to have something that makes you excited to head back into work Monday, and I usually find this inspiration in a killer hairstyle or outfit. This week I hope to channel Ashley Benson’s look from her appearance on “Live with Kelly & Michael”. It is simple enough to not require sacrificing too much extra beauty sleep and functional enough to last all day. I have been a longtime fan of Ashley’s and often find myself coveting items from her closet as well as her beauty looks. I will try it out and let you know how this fishtail look goes, and if you try it out, definitely send me a picture or comment down below!

Summer Setlist: What I’m Listening to Right Now

Who doesn’t love a good summer night driving around with the windows down? Besides the annoying amount of hair that gets stuck in your mouth, tangled, or frizzed up, it is so much fun! Here’s the playlist I recommend for nights like that:

1. How Deep is Your Love – Calvin Harris & Disciples

2. Honey I’m Good – Andy Grammer

3. King (DJ Kashtan Remix) – Years & Years

4. Show Me Love (EDX’s Indian Summer Remix) – Sam Feldt

5. This Summer’s Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf**** – Maroon 5

6. Stole the Show (feat. Parson James) – Kygo

7. Sexual Healing (Kygo Remix) – Marvin Gaye

8. Sundream – Rufus

9. One Whine (feat. Major Lazer) -Michael Montano & Sean Paul

10. Sunday Candy (feat. the Social Experiment) – Chance the Rapper

The New Style “Superstar” That is the Team Captain of the “Athleisure” Trend

For us lazy girls, the new “athleisure” trend is a near dream-come-true. Now you no longer need the gym membership to rep the hottest workout gear as it has made its way to the streets and even into nightlife. The key to pulling it off is not to overstep the comfy/cozy part and pick pieces that “mesh” (another major fall trend) well with everyday street style. Adidas has been a staple in this through their “Superstar” sneakers.

Adidas Superstar – $130.00 @ Adidas Stores & Online

They are now being worn by the likes of the sartorially elite (Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn, etc.) as well as a significant portion of the blogging community. I have yet to get my hands on a pair of these beauties, but I know they would be a beautiful addition to my comfy-centerered university wardrobe for this fall.

(Cue the heart eyes)

The fashion gods must have answered our prayers for the time being as I see this trend continuing into the fall and possibly sticking around longer (at least for me it will hard to let go of sweatpants being stylish! on purpose or not..). In any case, they will certainly be at the top of my back to school shopping list this year!

Cheers to Summer Wedding Attire that Won’t Make You Melt

Ahh, summer weddings. An excuse to have your dearest loved ones sit outside in the sweltering heat admiring bridal beauty while whatever is left on our faces turns to a sweaty mess. Brides may have spent months planning a wedding, but the solid hour it took me to perfect my cat eyeliner will be gone within a matter of minutes after stepping outside. Now don’t mistake this for pure cynicism, when I envision my dream wedding I also think of a beautiful sleeve-less summer day (hopefully mine, however, will include more air conditioning). Unfortunately I did not catch the bouquet at this particular wedding, but I’m pretty sure my father would’ve had a heart attack if I had. This means, if you’re like me, you may have a few more sweltering days of high heel pain and melting makeup, but no fear, I’ve got the perfect guide for you 🙂

1. To prevent that making from slipping and sliding all over:

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray – $36.00 @ Sephora

2. An annual summer must-have for me; gives your hair texture and holds it in place all in one!

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray – $29.50 @ Sephora

3. For all you heel-loving ladies, make it a bit easier on your feet with gel insoles, I’m a fan of these ones from Spring.

Novi Gel Instep Cushions – $8.99 @ Call it Spring

4. After a mini-outdoor sweat session, refresh your face with these sheets and some powder.

Boscia Black Charcoal Blotting Linens – $13.00 @ Sephora

PS. It also is a great idea and was a big salvation that my cousin offered information about the wedding and wedding party on little homemade fans. They were a huge hit while waiting for the beautiful bride to start her walk.

Here is my summer wedding outfit (pictured here with one of my cousins):

Unfortunately, my dress was a synthetic silk-like material that did not breathe very well (I DO NOT reccomend wearing a material like this, even though I loved that dress so I powered through it…)

On me – Dress: Forever 21, Heels: Forever 21, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Forever 21

And of course, why go to the trouble of getting all dressed up without a blurry impromptu iPhone photo shoot?

Great time, great people, great wedding 🙂

Day-to-Night White T-shirt

I love a transitional outfit more than most things (my only exceptions being netflix, kit-kats, and puppies). Using a white t-shirt as a blank canvas is something I love in theory, but not so much in execution. Not to mention finding the absolute perfect fit, fabric, and cut of a small white piece of fabric. That alone is enough to drive a girl off the deep end. Which is why I am starting a new series on this blog, the White T-Shirt days. I love the basic accessibility and I love pulling outfits that people actually are able to function in (like some other blogs that assume it is physically possible for a girl to wear a different pair of heels every. single. day… ridiculous!) so here is my first plain white instalment. Super simple, super casual for simple summer days paired with your favourite sandals (or heels, if you enjoy causing yourself unnecessary pain).

White T of choice: Joe Fresh, Necklace: Forever 21, Black Lace Bralette: Aritzia, Shorts: Forever 21

“Well don’t you look professional”

As a young person who loves corporate culture (and especially corporate fashion), it is easy to be mistaken for a juvenile. However, I am determined to overcome this through my behavior and image, hence my closet of business-y pieces despite having just graduated high school. This is an outfit I have actually turned to twice, once for an interview, and once for an everyday look. The light and bright – ness really cheers up a case of the Mondays and a put together look such as this (plus blowout) is basically all the confidence you could ever want. I find it significantly more challenging to put together outfits in the summer so hopefully this can offer some inspiration. So charge ahead, rose gold accessories in tow and brave the day (or take a blogging break… whatever keeps you going). 🙂

And of course, my everyday accessories – Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Tiffany & Co, Ring: Michael Hill

Also, to any other bloggers reading this, I need more blogs to follow so let me know you’re here! I’d be more than happy to check yours out and give you a follow 🙂
