Ahh, summer weddings. An excuse to have your dearest loved ones sit outside in the sweltering heat admiring bridal beauty while whatever is left on our faces turns to a sweaty mess. Brides may have spent months planning a wedding, but the solid hour it took me to perfect my cat eyeliner will be gone within a matter of minutes after stepping outside. Now don’t mistake this for pure cynicism, when I envision my dream wedding I also think of a beautiful sleeve-less summer day (hopefully mine, however, will include more air conditioning). Unfortunately I did not catch the bouquet at this particular wedding, but I’m pretty sure my father would’ve had a heart attack if I had. This means, if you’re like me, you may have a few more sweltering days of high heel pain and melting makeup, but no fear, I’ve got the perfect guide for you 🙂
1. To prevent that making from slipping and sliding all over:
Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray – $36.00 @ Sephora
2. An annual summer must-have for me; gives your hair texture and holds it in place all in one!
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray – $29.50 @ Sephora
3. For all you heel-loving ladies, make it a bit easier on your feet with gel insoles, I’m a fan of these ones from Spring.
Novi Gel Instep Cushions – $8.99 @ Call it Spring
4. After a mini-outdoor sweat session, refresh your face with these sheets and some powder.
Boscia Black Charcoal Blotting Linens – $13.00 @ Sephora
PS. It also is a great idea and was a big salvation that my cousin offered information about the wedding and wedding party on little homemade fans. They were a huge hit while waiting for the beautiful bride to start her walk.
Here is my summer wedding outfit (pictured here with one of my cousins):
Unfortunately, my dress was a synthetic silk-like material that did not breathe very well (I DO NOT reccomend wearing a material like this, even though I loved that dress so I powered through it…)
On me – Dress: Forever 21, Heels: Forever 21, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Forever 21
And of course, why go to the trouble of getting all dressed up without a blurry impromptu iPhone photo shoot?
Great time, great people, great wedding 🙂
